Although I provide three different services, they share several commonalities. I believe one of the most important qualities to delivering excellent service is being invested in my clients and positive outcomes.
I take pride in providing 100 % of my energy to my clients. It is imperative to meet each client at their own starting point, and I strive to provide a safe and trusting environment that is conducive to insightful awareness and positive change. I value taking a collaborative approach with all my clients in determining their individual needs and developing achievable goals.
I endorse a client-centered approach to therapy focusing on the personalized needs of each client. My theoretical orientation draws from multiple therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Strengths Based and Humanistic. I strive to create a safe and trusting environment that is conducive to insightful awareness and positive change. I believe that a therapeutic relationship should be supportive and draw on your strengths to overcome life’s barriers. All of my clients have unique strengths and identifying these strengths is an integral part of my practice. I feel that the therapeutic process should be collaborative and I like to envision myself as your guide helping you shape your individualized therapeutic treatment goals.
Many of my clients have voiced that they think therapy should be more than just, “Spilling their guts”. I think they are right, which is why I enjoy practicing from primarily from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) modality. While I think there is much value in empathic listening, I think CBT gives my clients tangible tools to take away from their session, which can have an immediate impact on beginning to minimize anxiety and grief. A large portion of the success of CBT is client participation, which can include ‘doing your homework’. I believe that my clients’ most valuable assets are their brains and homework is an integral part of helping to decrease perceived distortions and recondition the neuro-pathways in our brains with positive thoughts. The brain is our most vital organ and like any other organ it requires fuel and conditioning or it too can risk suffering and poor health. I wholeheartedly support the idea that nothing good in life comes without hard work. But, I also understand that many of us are at different places in life and I will always meet my clients at their own starting line. The therapeutic process is unique for every client and length of treatment is individualized and evaluated throughout therapy.
